PC Gaming Schools: Ranked Worst to Best
As a PC gamer who spent more time in virtual classrooms than real ones, I’ve sat through lectures, firefights, and magical trials in some truly bizarre educational institutions. From nightmarish test facilities to idealized teen hangouts, here’s my ranked roundup of the most memorable schools in PC gaming—worst to best.
The nightmares
Wade Elementary (F.E.A.R. 2) gets an F for being the most horrifying school imaginable. Beneath the innocent facade lies an underground test facility where children are sedated, genetically modified, and experimented on before having their memories wiped and sent back to class. Abominations—humans turned violent by chemicals—are kept in cells of their own filth. It’s a twisted hell that makes detention look like a vacation.
Suffolk County charter school (Fallout 4) earns a D-. The government’s Nutrition Alternative Paste Program (NAPP) forced students to eat bright pink goo that dyed their skin salmon. By the time you explore the abandoned building, the feral ghouls guarding it have turned lobster-colored—a grim reminder of the awful meals. Audio logs recount the principal’s terrible decision, and the place feels like a monument to bureaucratic failure.
School on Erangel (PUBG) gets a D. Dropping into the center of the map guarantees chaos as dozens of players scramble for loot on the roof and in the bullet-riddled corridors. The building itself is just a loot pinata, stripped of any character by millions of chicken dinner hunters. It’s effectively ruined, and no student will ever open a textbook there again.
